Language Services was established in 1984 to provide professional foreign language communication services. The Founder and President of the company is Melanie Goodman. Prior to founding the company, she earned a Ph.D. Candidate degree from UCLA in foreign languages; taught university and secondary level language and culture curriculum; performed interpretation and translation; and served 3 years setting up and directing the Venue Language Centers for the 1984 Olympic Games.
Careful selection of the staff at Language Services was initially performed by Ms. Goodman through her work at the Los Angeles Olympic Organizing Committee. Applicants were qualified by the stringent language proficiency examination that was prepared for the Olympic Committee by the Monterey Institute of International Studies. With statistics on more than 5000 linguists in over 90 languages, Language Services is one of the largest organizations of language specialists in the world.
Language Services’ ongoing projects include work for the major film studios, advertizing companies, U.S. Government, Atlanta Committee for the Olympic Games, hotels, banks, law firms, and other international businesses and individuals.
