Dad

DadTalk was founded on Father’s Day 2008 by the Family Matters institute (with funding from the Department for Education) with the remit to support all fathers no matter their situation.

In 2011 we acquired dad.info and merged the two sites into the largest, most popular dad site in the UK. The new merged site brought together all the great stuff from both sites. So in December 2011 the new improved DAD.info was launched.

DAD.info has over 300 articles, podcasts and videos; daily dad blogs, news and tips; competitions; a forum with a community of over 8,500 members; expert advisors including The Coram Children’s Legal Centre, Step Change, Child Maintenance Options, Family Rights Group, Alcohol Services, NHS Bedfordshire enabling us to offer dads support with birth, child law, finance and debt, relationships and maintenance advice. We also have a team of four coaches who are able to offer separation/relationship and life coaching services. In 2012 we added special services for Children’s Centres in the UK offering practical support and services to help engage with fathers. In early 2013 we launched the mobile version of our site.

Current

Current is the newspaper and website about public and nonprofit media in the U.S. The paper comes out 23 times a year, usually biweekly, every other Monday.

We’re read by people involved in public TV and public radio — station employees, independent producers, local volunteers and board members, viewers and listeners, state and national policymakers and others.

In a field of autonomous stations and independent producers, split between TV and radio and spread around a very large country, the most widely read periodical serves as one of the few shared resources — public broadcasting’s meeting place.

As of Jan. 1, 2011, Current became an editorially independent journalistic service of American University School of Communication, Washington, D.C. Current reported on the planned transfer in December 2010.

For most of the previous 30 years, Current had been managed financially by WNET, operator of New York pubTV stations WNET and WLIW.

Assistance from the Wyncote Foundation, based in Philadelphia, made it possible to make the transition to the university.

Current was founded in 1980 by the National Association of Educational Broadcasters, the historic forerunner and a parent of both PBS and NPR. NAEB was to last only two years longer, however, and a publishing committee of public stations put up funds to resume publication under the aegis of WNET.

Corn

Based in Washington, D.C., the Corn Refiners Association (CRA) is the national trade association representing the corn refining industry of the United States. CRA and its predecessors have served this important segment of American agribusiness since 1913. Corn refiners manufacture sweeteners, ethanol, starch, bioproducts, corn oil and feed products from corn components such as starch, oil, protein and fiber.

Through a series of operating committees of executives from corn refining firms, the association conducts programs of technical service, public relations, and government relations for the association membership. The association is a primary source of educational material on corn and products from corn for schools, government, journalists, agriculture, and agribusiness. Technical services of the association assist the membership in meeting government regulations, in developing quality systems for use by the industry and users of products from corn and in relations with other trade and professional groups.

Color

The International Color Consortium was established in 1993 by eight industry vendors for the purpose of creating, promoting and encouraging the standardization and evolution of an open, vendor-neutral, cross-platform color management system architecture and components. The outcome of this co-operation was the development of the ICC profile specification.

The intent of the International Color Consortium® profile format is to provide a cross-platform device profile format. Device profiles can be used to translate color data created on one device into another device’s native color space. The acceptance of this format by operating system vendors allows end users to transparently move profiles and images with embedded profiles between different operating systems. This permits tremendous flexibility to both users and vendors. For example, it allows users to be sure that their image will retain its color fidelity when moved between systems and applications. Furthermore, it allows a printer manufacturer to create a single profile for multiple operating systems.

The ICC specification is now widely used and has been specified in many international and other de-facto standards. It has itself recently been published as an International Standard, ISO 15076-1:2005. The specification continues to evolve and the current version represents a major improvement over the older versions. Profiles conforming to the new specification are called version 4 (v4) profiles. There are many advantages of v4 profiles, and all vendors of color management products are strongly urged to upgrade their products to be v4 compatible.
