Sand

The National Industrial Sand Association (NISA) is a trade association organized to advance the interests of companies that mine or process industrial sand. NISA was formed in 1936, and its membership consists of North American industrial sand companies. NISA operates through a board of directors, standing committees and task forces, as well as a staff located in Washington, DC. Association meetings typically are held twice a year, and meetings of the committees occur throughout the year on an as-needed basis. NISA is a founding member of the Industrial Minerals Association – North America (IMA-NA), through which NISA accomplishes much of its mission-related activities.

NISA manages an Occupational Health Program for Exposure to Crystalline Silica in the Industrial Sand Industry that provides guidelines by which NISA member companies can monitor occupational exposures and associated health effects of crystalline silica exposure.
